Boomerang Strengthens Engineering Team, Hiring Trung Ly As New VP of Engineering

Boomerang, the leading Lost & Found platform, is delighted to announce the appointment of Trung Ly as the company’s new Vice President of Engineering. Based in Los Angeles, Trung will be responsible for leading and growing Boomerang’s engineering team and overseeing the development of Boomerang’s platform.

Trung comes to Boomerang as an engineering veteran with over 25 years of experience in technology and e-commerce, working in various organizations of all sizes. He’s particularly passionate about marketplaces, having worked at some of the most successful marketplaces in the world. At eHarmony, Trung helped build a multi-sided matching marketplace to make dating and finding relationships easier digitally. At TrueCar (NSDQ: TRUE), he helped connect car buyers to the best dealerships, and at Tradesy and Vestiaire Collective, he helped build a marketplace for customers to both buy and sell their luxury second-hand items. Likewise, at Boomerang, Trung will help reunite people with their lost items. 

“One of the biggest challenges for marketplaces,” Trung says, “is constantly innovating and evolving to stay relevant. Too often, we see marketplaces get complacent and fall out of fashion. Another challenge is managing growth; at any point in the early stages of a two-sided marketplace, you can hit a point in the business where network effects can really kick in, and as an engineering leader, you have to be well-prepared to manage that growth effectively. Boomerang is close to reaching that tipping point, and I’m confident this is the right team to seize the moment, as they’ve done it before with other successful companies. Since Boomerang’s inception in November 2021, the team has grown to around a dozen people, mostly engineering and product talent focused on building a robust and easy-to-use platform for consumers and businesses.
